A 20-Year-Old Wind Turbine Lifetime Extension Case Study

Wind turbines are generally designed for 20 years, and when the design lifetime is close to being reached, various options are usually considered: decommission the turbines, repower the site with high rated power turbines or extend the operation of the installed turbines. The latter is the subject of this study, which details a lifetime extension (LTE) assessment carried out on a real aging wind farm.
